Immigrants and A

One thing I have really noticed since arriving is how many many more immigrants there are in Italia. Also, lots and lots of Arabic people, men and women, plus children. Today the bus passed a park that had Arabic dudes on the basketball court, women in hijab on the benches and TONs of little kids. Yesterday as I was going about my day I passed a man on the street that really, for just a second, I thought was A, my ex. My brain caught up after a couple of seconds, he was way too young to be A. A is almost all over grey nowadays. This ragazzo looked just like A did back in the day, when we were married. My heart jumped! Which was disturbing in its own way.

Today, there was the possibility that A would pick me up and take me to M’s (his brother) house. I planned to go there to see M and his wife and kids, but they live outside Milano and so M said maybe A could come and get me, if he wasn’t working. I was ok with it as it meant I didn’t have to ride the bus forever, but as I walked around I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not. Luckily he didn’t so I didn’t have to think about it, but still…it was kind of weird.
